Please read these Terms & Conditions carefully before using the Thrift Map app. They set out the rules for using our service and your rights and responsibilities.
1. Introduction
Welcome to Thrift Map (the "App"), a service that helps you discover thrift locations across the United Kingdom — including charity shops, car boot sales, and thrifting events. These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the App and any related websites, features, and services (together, the "Service").
By creating an account, or by downloading, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority in your country of residence, you may only use the Service with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian.
By using the Service you represent that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms and that all information you provide is accurate and complete.
3. Accounts and Sign-In
Some features require you to create an account. You can sign in using Google Sign-In, Apple Sign-In, or an email address and password.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to:
- Provide accurate and current information when registering;
- Keep your password secure and not share your account;
- Notify us promptly of any unauthorised use of your account.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
4. User Submissions and Content
The Service allows you to submit place requests, reviews, photos, favourites, visit markers, flags, and other content ("User Content"). Submitted places are reviewed by our team before being published, but we do not guarantee that any submission will be accepted or published.
You retain ownership of your User Content. By submitting it, you grant Thrift Map a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable licence to host, store, reproduce, modify, display, and distribute that content for the purpose of operating and promoting the Service.
You are solely responsible for your User Content and represent that you have all rights necessary to submit it and that it does not infringe the rights of any third party.
5. Acceptable Use
When using the Service you agree not to:
- Submit false, misleading, defamatory, or unlawful content;
- Upload content that infringes intellectual property or privacy rights;
- Post spam, advertising, or content unrelated to thrifting locations;
- Harass, abuse, or harm other users or third parties;
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service or its systems;
- Use automated means to scrape, copy, or harvest data from the Service;
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service.
We reserve the right to remove content and restrict access for any conduct we consider, in our reasonable discretion, to violate these Terms.
6. Place Information and Directions
Listings, opening hours, locations, and event details are provided for general information and may be submitted by users or sourced from third parties. We do not warrant that this information is accurate, complete, or current.
The "Take Me There!" directions feature relies on Google Maps and other third-party services. Always use your own judgement and follow local laws and signage when travelling to any location.
7. Third-Party Services and Advertising
The Service integrates third-party services including Google Maps, Firebase, Google Sign-In, Apple Sign-In, and Google AdMob advertising on mobile. Your use of those services is subject to their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for them.
The mobile App may display advertising. We are not responsible for the content of any advertisements or for any dealings you have with advertisers.
8. Privacy
We process personal data in accordance with applicable data protection law, including the UK GDPR. Our handling of your personal information is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. Please review it to understand what data we collect and how we use it.
9. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its design, branding, logos, text, and software (excluding User Content), is owned by Thrift Map or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms.
10. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of harmful components, or that any information will be accurate.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Thrift Map will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud.
12. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, with or without notice, if we believe you have breached these Terms or to protect the Service or other users. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will continue to apply.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, without affecting any mandatory consumer protection rights you may have where you live.
